MANILA, Philippines – TINANGHAL bilang pangkalahatang kampeon ang ang Philippine Navy sa national finals ngayong taon ng Philippine ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) Games na ginanap noong Agosto 18-23 sa Cavite.
Ang mga kadeteng atleta na kumakatawan sa Navy ay umani ng kabuuang 89 medalya, kabilang ang 44 ginto, 19 na pilak, at 26 tanso. Naungusan nito ang Philippine Army contingent na nakakuha ng 42 ginto, 54 pilak, at 77 tanso.
Ang mga cadet-athlete nama ng Air Force ay kumulekta sa kompetisyon ng 18 ginto, 27 pilak, at 39 tanso.
Sa ranking ng mga paaralan, ang De La Salle University (DLSU) ang nanguna sa national finals na may 25 golds, 3 silvers, habang ang Rizal Technological University (RTU) ay pumangalawa sa most bemedalled school na may 16 golds, 17 silvers, at 11 bronzes.
“This year’s competition once more showcased how the ROTC program contributes positively to youth development. Through sports, we foster excellence, discipline, and leadership among our college cadets,” sabi ni Senate Majority Leader Francis ‘Tol’ Tolentino, ang utak sa likod ng ROTC Games.
“This year’s national finals was inspired by the notable achievements of our Filipino athletes in the Paris Olympics. I am confident that future national athletes and possibly our next Olympians will come from their ranks,” idinagdag ng senador.
May kabuuang 151 unibersidad na binubuo ng private and national and local government-run tertiary schools sa buong bansa ang kumatawan sa national finals ngayong taon, ayon sa Commission on Education (CHED).
Itinampok sa kompetisyon ang 14 events, kabilang ang arnis, athletics, basketball, boxing, chess, e-sports, kickboxing, sepak takraw, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, at raiders competition – na sumubok sa military, skills and strategy ng cadet-athletes.
Ang PH ROTC Games ay pinagsamang programa nina Senator Tolentino, CHED, Philippine Sports Commission, at ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Nagsilbing host ngayong taon para sa Luzon leg at sa national championships ang Cavite State University (CVSU) na pinamumunuan ng pangulo nitong si Dr. Hernando Robles. RNT
